| Kanchanaburi |
September 26, 2006
130km west of Bangkok, Kanchanaburi is well known for the famous Bridge on the River Kwai. Even if it looks quite an ordinary bridge, its war history makes it is special.
Train enthusiasts may enjoy the old rail engines used during WWII.
Around Kanchanaburi, sugar cane plantations, rice fields, and some nice Wat and Caves.

| Kanchanaburi - Erawan Waterfalls |
September 28, 2006
This 550 sq Km park is one of the most beautiful in Thailand.
2Km walk (a steadily walk!!) from the trail entrance to the end of seven levels of waterfalls. The trails weave in and out of several pools and falls.
The shape of the highest fall is said to resemble Erawan, the three-headed elephant of Hindu mythology.
During your trekking, you can also see monkeys jumping from the the trees, fishes,... and make a nice swimming in the falls. |
| Ayutthaya |
October 03, 2006
90Km north of Bangkok, Ayutthaya served as the Siamese royal capital from 1350 to 1767.
Now UNESCO World Heritage Site, Ayutthaya's historical temples are scattered throughout this once magnificent city and along the encircling rivers.
Each temple has its own details of interest, from the Wat Phra Si Sanphet with its three large chedis, to Wat Ratburana with its mural paintings, to Wat Yai Chai Mongkhon with its big reclining Buddha. |
| Lopburi |
October 05, 2006
The main attraction of this town is the group of monkeys scurrying around freely in the city.
Mainly they are located at the San Phra Kan, but you can see them also in the street, near the shops, or just falling out of the trees.
Just funny to spend one hour looking at them, how similar to people they can be sometime.
The only other interesting actraction in Lopburi is the King Narai's Palace, with a nice garden, a museum and ruins. |
| Floating |

Raining season in Thailand. We have been crossing many kilometres, by train, from Lopburi to Sukhothai, and evrything was covered by water.
People with rowing boats to reach their houses. Roads, fields, trees,... under water.
Actually, we were expecting rain and rain every day, but it seems to be raining only in the night, but such heavy storms that the rivers overflow. |
| Sukhothai Food Festival |
October 22, 2006
A two weeks festival: not a standard one... but a "Food Festival"! Foodstands on each side of a large street. Food and drinks everywhere, and tables and chairs in the center.
A snack fron a stand, some roasted meat from anothe stand, some fish, fruits... and snack after snack we realize to have eaten too much.
At the end of the street there are singers and dancers, dressed with colourful dresses, plumes, pailettes, in a coreografy similar to Charlestone time: singer in the center, dancers around him in a cloud of colours. |
| Sukhothai Historical Park |
October 23, 2006
Sukhothai, letterally "Dawn of Happiness" became in XIV century the first truly indipendent Thai kingdom.
One of the best Historical Parks of Thailand, rich in ruins well conserved, inside a park which is a Unesco-designed World Heritage Site.
A relaxing day out, bicibling in the park, surronded by moments of history.
| Si Satchanalai Historical Park |
October 26, 2006
About 50Km from Sukhothai, you can find Si Satchnalai e Chaliang Historical Parks. Same historical period as Sukhothai Historical Park, and these also declared World Heritage Sites.
Si Satchanalai ruins are situated on hills and a kind of mistery surronds them: not too many tourists, not too much restaurations... maybe more real and true than Sukhothai.

| Sukhothai - Guesthouse |
October 27, 2006
We spent 3 weeks in Sukhothai, working and relaxing. We wanted to show you the two guesthouses where we stayed: "Ruen Thai Guesthouse" and "TR Guesthouse". Both are highly recommended. |
| Nong Khai - Spaghetti with friends |
November 18, 2006
Last day in Thailand, before going to Laos.
In as supermarket we found "spaghetti", so we have cooked spaghetti in the wok, and invited our friend Okunani, and the owners of the guesthouse for a dinner together. A nice evening!

| Trang - Hat Chao Mai |
February 05, 2007
Trang is a costal Thailand province of the Andaman Sea. The length of the Trang' coastal line is 199km and the Islands of Trang about forty-six. Most area is under responsability of two National Parks.
Long beaches with no turists, a boat tour with local fisherman, snorkeling, clear water, corals, fishes,... Trang is one of the best place on the Thai coast.
| Krabi |
February 10, 2007
Krabi province, in the south of Thailand, has some spectacular limestone formations. These limestone cliffes attract numerous climbers from all around the world. Nearby the coast there are also some wonderful islands, with white sand and green-clear water.
The only drawback of Krabi are the tourists. Being a well-know destination in Thailand, the crowd of tourists looking for sun, sea and beaches, are really too many.

| Trang - Hat Pak Meng |
February 14, 2007
Hat Pak Meng, on the cost of Trang Province.
Pak Meng is also the place where every year, on the 14th February(Valentines Day), the "Underwater Wedding Ceremony" is arranged. Couples from all around Thailand meet here to get married underwater. Obviuosly you are eligible to partecipate only if you are a qualified diver! |
| Patong Beach |
December 21, 2008
Some pictures taken during our stay in Patong Beach, Phuket.
What should you expect to find in Patong? Many bars and nightclubs, a lot of girls happy to spend their time with you, a lot of alchool,... not the real Thailand! |
| Thai People |
Pictures of people we met during our travel; streets and thai people in they ordinary living.
Pictures taken while we where walking along the streets and trying to show normal people living, or maybe just something that we are not so used to see in Europe.
Some other pictures are some friends of ours, met during our trip. |
| Thai Food |
Pictures of thai food. Rice, noodles, soups,... restaurants and foodstalls...
Most of the pictures are images of dishes we have tried and eaten.
Some others are pictures of foodstalls along the street, selling main dishes or little snackes.
How to choose where to eat? Easy! Where you can see a lot of thai people eating! You can be sure to eat well and spend little money. |
| Thai Curiosities |
Little curiosities, funny or a bit strange things we have seen... or maybe just little details we want to underline.
Maybe in a few months, when we will get used to habits and thai life-stay, we will find all this as normal and ordinary as drinking a coffee, but for now there are many little things that catch our attention as peculiar. |
| Marco & Laura |
Well... a few pictures of us taken during our trip in Thailand.
We have added these pictures so that our families and friends, worried about this long trip of ours, can see that we are well, enjoying our travel, and visiting plenty of interesting and wonderful places.
And maybe... who knows... they will decide to come to visit us...
We wait for you! |
