Malaysian Capital, Kuala Lumpur surprices for its modernity, skyscrapers, clean and perfect roads,...
Some old colonial buildings, English cathedrals and modern Islamic masterpieces are the heart of this modern Asiatic city, surrounded by modernity.
Special note is due to the "Petronas Towers", two twin towers, 452 meters tall, connected each other by a skybridge.

The huge Batu Caves, limestone caves, are just 15 km away from Kuala Lumpur. The main cave is reached by 272 steps.
The cave is dedicated to Hindu divinities; a temple in front of the stairs, and numerous sculptures and paintings inside the cave.
Inside the Batu Caves there is also a monkeys population, going around undisturbed.

|
The island of Pulau Pangkor, in the Peninsular Malaysia, north of Kula Lumpur, is advertised as a tropical paradise... white sand, palms, limpid clear water, good accommodations and guesthouses,...
Well, we haven't found any of those!!!!
What we have found are some guesthouses not too good, some low quality restaurants, a beach with a lot of rubbish, a small snorkeling area full of corean turists and pieces of bread used to attract the fishes.

Pulau Penang, also called "Pearl of the Orient", is famed for its lovely beaches, colourful history, and rich mix of cultures.
Georgetown, the state capital and port city, combines the best of East and West culture, as evident in its numerous heritage buildings.
The island is connected to the mainland by a ferry service and the magnificent Penang Bridge.

|
January 30, 2007
|
Batu Ferringhi beach, at about 30 minutes by bus from Georgetown, is a long beach in front of the ocean. The beach is fine for sunbathing, but the water is not as clear as you could expect, and it is not fine for swimming and snorkeling.
After sunset, the Batu Ferringhi sidewalk transforms into a bazar where traders from all over the island set up theirs stalls.

| Pulau Penang - Thaipusam |
|
January 31, 2007
|
The most spectacular Hindu festival in Malaysia is Thaipusam.
Now banned in India, Thaipusam is celebrated in Malaysia at the Batu Caves, Pulau Penang and in Johor Bahru. We were so lucky to be in Pulau Penang at the time of the Thaipusam.
It is a crazy festival: millions of devotees, body pierciengs, masochistic acts,... the devotees form a constant procession to the main shrine.

| Melaka |
|
March 05, 2007
|
What can we say about Melaka, in the south of Peninsular Malaysia? We stayed here three weeks, but we really visited the city only the last day, but we didn't take any picture.
All what we did in Melaka was rest, read, eat, chatting on internet,... Nothing more!
