New Delhi: Indian capital, reached with an Air India flight from Frankfurt, using an old airplane of the 70s (if you are optimistic). These are the pictures we took during the first two days in this city... in the chaos... not so different from the chaos you get in Milan!

|
Varanasi: a thousands years old city facing the Ganga, a holy river for Hinduism.
A pilgrimage destination to purify themselves from sins bathing into the most dirty and polluted river ever seen during years of traveling. A colourful crowd inhabit the ghats with offers and ritual baths, but not only: people wash their clothes, dishes, shit and piss, all in a few metres!
This city reflects the hundred of contradictions of India, between modernity and old traditions.

| Khajuraho |
|
February 08, 2008
|
Khajuraho, known and advertised in the world for the its kamasutra carvings, has proven how marketing can sell everything. The truth is different from the advertising, since ony a small amount of carvings are related with the kamasutra.
Anyway, if your interest is not only sex, the park of Khajuraho is a peaceful haven where to spend a day. |
| Orchha |
|
February 09, 2008
|
Orchha, which means "Hidden Place", is a small town of just a few streets within a wonderful complex of well-preserved palaces and temples. The picture-book setting of spires and domes breaks the skyline in every direction.
A peaceful town, with many green parrots, vulture, and friendly people; perfect for a few days break.

| Gwalior |
|
February 10, 2008
|
Gwalior, a small village (compare with English standards) has got a lovely fort on a hill.
Inside the fort there are some palaces, temples, and also a Sikh temple, where we had dinner with a nice old man, looking like
an old caracther from English Empire!
Huge sculptures in the rock (sometimes statues, sometimes huge temples) follow the road connecting the fort to the village.

| Chennai |
|
February 14, 2008
|
Chennai, also called Madras, is one of the biggest cities in South India. A long but dirty beach, a few Christian churches, an old fort,... not a lot more. From the few pictures we took, you can realize we didn't like Chennai so much! |
| Crocodile Bank |
|
February 17, 2008
|
Just a few kilometres from Chennai there is one of the most important reserch center of this terrible animal: the crocodile.
Many different kind of crocodiles are shown to the visitors, in a clear and nice way. A lovely day trip from Chennai or Mammallapuram! |
| Mamallapuram |
|
March 03, 2008
|
Mamallapuram is a tourist town 60 km south of Chennai made famous by its stone carvings.
The most famous monument is the Sea Shore Temple: when lit by moonlight, it is one of the most beautiful locations in the region. The temple is carved from a single piece of stone and has stood for more than 1400 years.

| Jodhpur, Rajasthan |
|
April 10, 2008
|
Jodhpur, also called the "Blue City" because of the colour of the houses, is one of the best cities of Rajasthan.
Jodhpur's huge fort dominates the Blue City, growing out of a rocky
ridge, with an otherworldly palace poking above its awesome walls.

| Transport in India |

A small photo-gallery of the public transport available in India; probably this gallery does not show all the possible ways to move around India, but it can give an overview of the transports available while traveling in India. |
| Indian Food |
|
May 02, 2008
|
Indian food is quite good, but you have to like spicy sauces. The main things you will be able to find everywhere are Thalli, dosa, parotha, and rice, always a lot of rice!
On the other hand, what you will not be able to find very often is meat; most of the Indians are vegetarians, and so also many reasturant cook only vegetarian food.
