Valparaiso, once an old portual city, is now the best place for Chileans and Argentinians for a nice week-end.
The 45 steep hills surrounding Valparaiso, with their colourful little houses, give a nice touch to this city. But the thing we liked more about Valparaiso is its food: delicious fish and seafood in huge quantity! |

After hundred of kilometers in the middle of the desert, it appears Iquique, lovely sea town, with a nice square.
Very curious are the ghost towns of Humberstone and Santa Laura, villages in the middle of the desert, built only for the estraction and elaboration of salnitre and then abandoned when the business closed. |

In the North of Chile, at the border with Peru and Bolivia, there is one of the best National Parks in Chile: Laura national Park.
Starting from Putre, a small village at 3000 meters, it is possible to visit lakes and vulcans and to see vicugnas and lamas. The road to Bolivia cross the National Park, and simply going through this road you can see breathtaking landscapes. |
